I provide a safe space for clients to be seen, heard and held with compassion as they move through troubling experiences such as grief, loss, anxiety, depression, separation, divorce or other life transitions causing them stress. Clients leave feeling supported and better equipped to navigate tricky emotions.
Gestalt Therapy is a form of psychotherapy which supports the client to maintain their focus on the here and now, or present moment.
Often, we inherit beliefs from our ancestors which, when kept hidden in our subconscious, can prevent us from moving forward in our lives.
Artistic talent is absolutely unnecessary for this process, and often the very act of creating something tangible, in the absence of pressure to excel, can be very healing in and of itself.
Psychotherapy & Counselling
People who seek counseling are usually just everyday people who hit a bump, or maybe several bumps at once, in the road called “life”, and are left struggling, with feelings that are too difficult to navigate, alone. The bumps might be things like grief, loss, major transitions, relationships difficulties, low self-esteem, chronic stress, addictions, depression, anxiety or unresolved trauma.
The goal is primarily for the client to feel seen, and heard, and validated, as this is where most healing and relief can be achieved.
People who seek psychotherapy, usually do so because they are beginning to realise that certain patterns, beliefs or behaviours are becoming unhelpful in their lives and relationships, and they are searching for a new way of being.
Family Constellations Therapy
A combination of talk therapy, body awareness and exploration of your family system & life space factors that may be causing you difficultly or pain.
Family Constellations can benefit families experiencing conflict of all kinds, couples who want to deepen intimacy, and be good parents and role models for their children, children with difficulties at school both socially and academically, for understanding chronic diseases and their symptoms, and in professional areas where there are issues with conflict or leadership.
Art therapy uses creative techniques like painting, drawing, sculpting, colouring in, and collages to assist clients to explore their inner world of images, emotions and thoughts. It helps people who might otherwise feel overwhelmed or incapable of articulating their experience for reasons including, but not limited to, deep trauma, fear, shame or even childhood emotional neglect, whereby emotional language is underdeveloped, or emotions are minimised or dismissed due to a lack of attunement from a parent figure in early life.
Once we have explored an issue together sometimes the underlying emotion and impact of a session is either difficult to verbalise, or doing so might detract from the felt experience, so using art expression as a way to solidify the learning and feelings of that session can be very helpful. You can take your creation home with you to reflect on or continue to use that piece at home as a focus for further work.
Events & Workshops
Meeting Memories is a brand new workshop developed post-COVID that aims to give a taste of Gestalt Therapy and to help support women to connect with parts of their Selves that they've been neglecting, suppressing, or perhaps forgot existed. A supported journey into reconnecting with your sparkle, to bring more of your self forward and live in a greater sense of 'aliveness'.
Single one off workshops held regularly so you can either come regularly or once, or whenever you need the support and reinforcement. During the workshops participants will be invited to engage in a series of creative experiments and mindfulness activities to expand their awareness.
These workshops complement and work in conjunction with individual sessions.
Following the birth of my first child, I became interested in the underlying emotional causes of illness from holding chronic stress and tension in the body. My second child inspired me to learn more about emotional regulation; I became attuned in Reiki and studied Australian Bush Flower Essences. After the birth of my third child, I became deeply aware of the importance of a well regulated the family system, the benefits of attachment parenting, and the effects of changes in family dynamics on both individuals and the family system. I turned to Gestalt therapy to help me make meaning of all the changes in my relationships, and after one session, I signed up to study an Advanced Diploma.
